Auchan Plans New Logistics Centre In Moscow Region

Auchan will invest approximately €79 million in a new logistics centre in the Moscow Oblast province of Russia.

The initial objective of the plan is to house and distribute non-food products consumers will purchase through the company’s Russian website, supplychainanalysis.igd.com reports.

The next phase for the supply chain hub will be to build an annexed storage warehouse for fresh produce. The French grocer has not disclosed planned dates for this development.

Auchan has begun to test the waters of convenience retailing in Moscow Oblast by opening four such stores under its banner Kazhdy Den (‘Everyday’). These place particular emphasis on pushing private label foodstuffs.

Atak, Auchan’s Russian subsidiary of hypermarkets, has just been named among the top ten employers in Russia.
