Coop Recalls Private Label Manchego Cheese

Swiss retailer Coop has stopped selling its private label Manchego cheese because of concerns some of the SKUs may have been contaminated by listeria.

A company press release confirmed that the Spanish cheese products, sold under its private label line Qualité & Prix, may have been affected. Those bearing best-before dates of 5 December, 7 December and 11 December are at risk.

Symptoms of listeria infection – which include abdominal cramps and vomiting, among others – sometimes manifest about eight weeks after the contaminated food is consumed. Those with immune-system issues, pregnant women and the elderly are susceptible in particular.

Coop is offering full refunds for the SKUs.
