Jacobs Douwe Egberts To Acquire Brazilian Coffee Brands

Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) has announced that it intends to acquire a portfolio of local brands from Brazil’s leading instant coffee exporter Cia Cacique, including Café Pelé, Graníssimo and Tropical.

The Netherlands-based coffee and tea company already owns some of Brazil’s most popular brands like Pilão, Caboclo, Café do Ponto and Damasco.

Subject to formal approval by Brazilian regulatory authorities, this acquisition will complement JDE Brazil’s existing coffee portfolio and strengthen its leadership in core regions across the country.

However, the deal does not include Cacique’s factories in Brazil, located in Barueri and Londrina.
