Edeka Plants 500 Trees As Part Of Sustainability Drive

In order to keep its promise to plant one tree for every 100 paper bags sold on two certain days in June,  German retailer Edeka has announced the planting of 500 trees in Gottswald, Germany.

The thinking behind this campaign is to make people aware of the environmental issue of packaging.

"Only when the whole atmosphere that surrounds our agricultural products is environmentally intact, can our food be of premium quality", said Rainer Huber, spokesman of the management of Edeka Südwest.

To ensure that the sustainability message was reinforced within the company, Edeka invited its own employees to plant the trees.
