Eurostat: Farmland Dedicated To Organic Produce On The Increase Across Europe

Eurostat has announced that the amount of farmland being devoted to organic production is growing across the continent.

Since 2010, the land cultivated specifically for organic food has increased by 2 million hectares, reaching 11 million hectares in 2015. This number represents approximately 6.2% of all European farmland.

Italy, Spain, French and Germany together have the highest percentage of organic crops, and the largest number of organic farmers.

However, in some countries, growth is more pronounced than in others. For instance, in Italy organic farmland grew by 34% in the last five years, while in UK the land reserved for this purpose has fallen by 29%.
