Grupo Ibersnacks Develops New Manufacturing Plant

Grupo Ibersnacks, which supplies Spanish retailer Mercadona with a range of private label products under its Hacendado label, has announced a €7 million investment in its manufacturing plant in Valladolid.

The site, at Medina del Campo, will incorporate a development and innovation centre, with the goal of developing the “best potato chip in the world”, company president Felix Eguia told local media.

Agriculture minister Milagros Marcos was on hand to inaugurate the new facilities, noting that the Castilla y Leon region already produces around 40% of the national crop of potatoes.

The development has created 30 jobs for the local community, which will increase to 50 once it is fully operational.
