Auchan Introduces Online Rating System For Private Label Portfolio

For the first time ever Auchan is allowing online shoppers to rate and comment on its private label products through a change in its e-commerce interface, LSA-Conso.fr reports.

Users can give products a general rating out of five stars, but also, using the same star system, individually rate products’ freshness, quality, and packaging. The system has been live for two weeks.

On Auchan’s private label bacon, one user wrote, "The quality seems somewhat random, like in this instance there is too much fat and not enough bacon,", and awarded the product three stars.

Another, giving Auchan’s own rice milk five stars wrote, "Not really fans of dairy products, we use vegetable milks almost exclusively, and this is by far our favourite rice milk."

"We have amassed 30,000 ratings in ten days, with an average of 4.2 stars," said Olivier Jaupart, director of commercial animation for Auchan Drive France.

Auchan’s system was developed in conjunction with marketing solutions company Bazaarvoice.
