Coop Nordest Trials New App

Italian regional food retailer Coop Nordest is trialling a new version of the Mycoop app that integrates self-scanning, discounts, vouchers, loyalty program, self-check out and mobile payment.

The new app has been developed in collaboration with Konvergence, a provider of IT solutions for the retail sector. The Kwallet platform enables customers to pay for purchases in contactless mode or remotely.

Customers just need to scan a QR code at the entrance of the supermarket, providing free Wi-Fi access to the platform. Then they can start shopping, placing products in the cart by scanning the barcode with the smartphone, while at the same time receiving information about the latest promotions and offers.

Vouchers, loyalty points and cash back mechanisms are taken into account before final payment.

According to Konvergence, the commercial rollout of the new version of the app will take place in the first half of 2016.
