Coop Switzerland Seeks To Reduce Plastic-Bag Use By 80%

To reduce the use of plastic bags, Coop Switzerland has announced plans to commence charging customers 5 cent for eco-friendly bags that are developed from 100% recycled material.

The initiative starts on 24 October, with test runs in ten stores in Zurich, in order to optimise the process for customers. Coop's aim is to reduce the use of plastic bags by 80%.

The proceeds from the bags will go towards Coop's sustainability fund, which seeks to support innovative and sustainable projects.
