Coop Switzerland To Sell Eco-Friendly Umbrellas

Swiss retailer Coop is to remove all per- and polyfluorized chemicals (PFC) in its private label umbrella production.

The move follows the signing of a 'Detox Commitment' with Greenpeace.

PFC's endanger the environment, pollute wanter and land and may be a health risk for humans and animals. They are mainly used for the production of umbrellas, due to their water and dirt resistance.

The Detox Commitment was signed in 2013 to ban or at least avoid unwanted chemicals in the production of textiles.

In producing its new umbrellas, Coop is working alongside Swiss umbrella company Strolz AG and Schoeller Textil AG.
