Kesko To Extend Self-Service Checkout Rollout After Positive Feedback

Finnish retail group Kesko is expanding its range of automated checkouts in its stores after positive feedback from customers.

Its supermarket brand, K-supermarket, has self-service checkouts in most stores and the first to introduce them, K-supermarket in Postitalo, Helsinki has seen the benefits since adapting the technology.

“Customers took up the automated checkout terminals immediately, and we have only received positive feedback. There is personnel at the checkout to help people get started, but most customers have learned how to use the device without instruction,” says K-supermarket Postitalo retailer Aki Luomanen.

Going by the positive response from customers and the efficiency that self-service brings, the group has decided to roll out more stations across the supermarket format from May.

The next automated checkout terminals will be deployed in May in K-citymarket Ruoholahtia and Helsinki, and K-supermarket Katariina and Kaarina.
