Pernod Ricard Judged 'Greenest' Drinks Company

The Newsweek Green Rankings 2016 have rated Pernod Ricard the most environmentally aware of global drinks companies, receiving a ‘greenness’ score of 70.9%.

The rating places the French multinational in 46th position among the “leading 500 international groups listed on the stock exchange.”

Pernod Ricard, outlining its performance, said “96% of our 99 production sites were ISO 14001 certified, representing 99.7% of product volumes; 78% of our 5,700 hectares of vineyards  were  certified to environmental standards; 14% reduction in water consumption per unit produced; 16% reduction in energy consumption; and 26% reduction  in CO2 emissions per unit produced; 76% reduction in solid waste landfilled or incinerated per unit produced.”

This was achieved between 2010 and 2015.

Jean François Roucou, the company’s group director of sustainable performance, said “We are delighted to see our longstanding commitment recognised by the Newsweek Green Rankings 2016. We believe that leadership is not possible without environmental excellence.
