Jumbo To Open New Stores In October

Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo has announced it will open two new stores in The Netherlands in October, in Wijk bij Duurstede and Gouda.  In addition, it will re-open three existing stores, recently refurbished to the latest Jumbo concepts and finishes, in Eindhoven, Oude Pekela en Eelde.

"In the past year, we have refurbished and re-fitted many stores according to the latest principles of the Jumbo formula. The end of the renovation process is now in sight. Before the end of the year we will refurbish around 15 stores more. Together with all Jumbo store operators and colleagues, we are looking forward to the festive openings in October," said Colette Cloosterman-van Eerd, director of 'Formula and Innovation' for Jumbo Supermarkets.

The 'Jumbo formula' - "to provide the best service, the largest selection and lowest prices" - has seen the company grow to the second largest supermarket chain in The Netherlands and voted 'best supermarket' for the 16th time this year.

Jumbo operates around 580 stores, more than 285 Pick Up Points for online orders and an expanding home-delivery service.
