Metro Cash & Carry Appoints Timo Salzseider As Chief Information Officer

Germany’s Metro Group has announced the appointment of Timo Salzsieder as the new Chief Solution Officer (CSO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Metro Cash & Carry.

The group said that in his new role, Salzsieder will ‘drive the digitisation of the organisation’, as well as develop the IT architecture within the business.

He previously worked as CIO/CTO at Tomorrow Focus AG, which operates under the name HolidayCheck Group AG. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the IT and e-commerce sector, having also previously held positions with Oracle and Bertelsmann arvato services.

“With Timo Salzsieder, we have won a proven expert for IT, e-commerce and customer experience”, said Heiko Hutmacher, Member of the Management Board of METRO AG with responsibility for IT, inter alia.

“Our IT architecture, processes and services form the backbone of our wholesale business and are a key element of METRO Cash & Carry’s digitisation strategy to make the digital solutions of our customers even more successful”.
