Metro Italia Opens Up To Non-B2B Customers

The Italian unit of German wholesaler Metro is trialing a new formula that for the first time will enable all consumers, and not only B2B enterprises, to make purchases.

The “Metro Crù - Il mercato del gusto” concept was introduced recently at the Levata store near Mantua, reported local daily Gazzetta di Mantova.

Interior spaces have been completely redesigned according to displays based on a range of "solutions" and "themes".

The decision came as a result of market research that identified Mantua as one of the provinces with the greatest presence of "food lovers" in Italy.

A second reason is the dual appointment of Mantua as Capital of Culture in 2016 and European Enogastronomy Capital in 2017 (together with the cities of Bergamo, Brescia and Cremona).
