Pernod Ricard Sells Fris Vodka Brand To Sazerac Co. Of U.S.

Pernod Ricard SA sold its Fris vodka brand to Sazerac Co. of the U.S. for an undisclosed amount.

The divestment is “in line with the Pernod Ricard strategy to focus on its priority spirits and wines brands,” the French distiller said in a statement Friday.

The sale marks Pernod’s second sale to Sazerac this year after it divested Paddy Irish whiskey to the closely held company in May. Fris, a Danish brand, was previously owned by Absolut vodka maker Vin & Spirit AB and became part of Pernod when the maker of Chivas Regal bought the Swedish distiller in 2008.

About 250,000 9-liter cases of Fris are sold in the U.S. each year, Pernod said.
