Raimat Kickstarts Harvest Season For Cava In Catalonia

Last Monday, producers at Raimat begun picking the grapes for Cava production. As reported by elperiodico.com, the company and producer of the Spanish sparkling wine, is known to be the one to open harvest season in the region.

The picking is done by hand and during the night, a difficult and time consuming process necessary to guarantee Cava's quality and characteristics.

According to Xavier Farré, viticulture director at Raimat, this season is expected to be excellent both in quantity and quality. This is contributed to a mild summer, slow ripening and moderate stress on the vines.

The company, owned by the Codorniú-Raventos Group, provides 900 jobs, and it claims to be Spain's oldest family-run business in the country and the 17th in the world.
