Sonae Scoops Two Excellence Awards

Portuguese retail group Sonae has received recognition for its continuous improvement effort by the Kaizen Institute.

Sonae received two Kaizen Lean 2014 awards, which included one for 'Ambassador Kaizen' for store operations at its hypermarket chain Continente and another for 'Excellence in Quality' for sales force management at its white goods, consumer electronics and entertainment chain Worten.

According to the Kaizen Institute, Continente has a unique history in dedication to continuous improvement and the results achieved are examples of benchmarking on a global level. Also, the food retail area of Sonae receives regular visits by retailers and companies from the sector from around the world, sharing their best practices.

For its part, Worten's sales force management project aims to pay more attention to customers, providing them with the necessary explanations and adequate care. The strenghts of the project are its distinctive character, improving customer service and the consequent enhancement of sales.

The Kaizen Lean 2014 Prize rewards public and private entities that seek process improvement on a daily basis, striving to raise the level of productivity to higher levels and minimise waste, while increasing process efficiency.
