Summer Alcohol Sales Up At Waitrose

The latest trading update from UK retailer Waitrose has indicated an increase in sales of summer alcoholic drinks such as wine, by 15%, with Waitrose Prosecco, Cava and Pinot Grigio being among the most popular sellers.

Gin sales were reportedly up by 16%, while frozen desserts sales were up by 17%.

As September marked the end of the Soil Association’s organic month, sales of Waitrose Organic meat and fish rose by 17%, with prepacked beef rising by 28% and service counter fish was up 46%.

Total divisional sales were up by 2.2% compared to this time last year, excluding fuel.
