Japanese Zen-Noh Buys Stake In Brazilian Joint Venture

Zen-Noh Grain Brazil, the local subsidiary of the Japanese Zen-Noh Grain Corporation, is now a member of the Brazilian Amaggi and Louis Dreyfus joint venture, the companies have announced.

With the acquisition, the leading cooperatives expect to strengthen operations in Tegram Port (the grain terminal of Maranhão State), one of the main alternatives to the export routes for the south and south-east regions of Brazil.

The agreement, signed in late 2016 and still subject to government approvals in Brazil and abroad, gives all three companies equal stakes and rights.

From Production To Exportation

The new partnership amplifies the competitiveness of the existing joint venture, which now comprises the grain-production and port-terminal business, with Zen-Noh being responsible for grain production, Louis Dreyfus for the processing of goods, and Amaggi for logistics and shipping.

About the Companies

Zen-Noh (or the National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations) is one of the largest agriculture cooperatives in the world, responsible for the export of about 13 million megatonnes of grain, beans and their by-products per year.

Louis Dreyfus, which is as large as Zen-Noh, is a leading merchant and processor of agricultural goods, with activities in over 100 countries. Every year, Dreyfus produces, processes and transports approximately 81 million tonnes of products, supplying 500 million people every year.

Partner Amaggi is currently active in logistics, energy, agricultural production, commodities and shipping. The company employs more than 4,800 people and is present in all regions of Brazil.
