2 Sisters Food Group Invests £27m Into Supply Chain

British food manufacturer 2 Sisters revealed that it invested £27.5 million in its south western UK supply chain last year as it grew its chicken production.

The supply chain grew by a third, the Group reports.

The £27.5 million went into rebuilding, refurbishing and adding in extra poultry houses on existing sites.

A spokesman for the Group said: “The increase in the growing base means that our Willand facility is now processing over a million birds every week, which is a fantastic achievement by our colleagues and a new milestone for the site.”

Working Together

2 Sisters are part of a joint venture with PD Hook, forming a group called Hook 2 Sisters. It oversees the supply of chicken to 2 Sisters Food Group.

In response to the expansion, Chris Chater, Hook 2 Sisters general manager in the South West, said “The investment in our growing base has injected fresh optimism and provided our outdoor farmers with the confidence to grow their business alongside ours.”

“The hatchery extension has allowed us grow by 50 per cent in the last 12 months with the capacity to supply more chicks in the future.”

In August of last year, the food group invested £45 million into its poultry processing plant in Scunthorpe. It also recently celebrated the one year mark since its successful relocation to the redeveloped production plant in Derby.
