A new Aldi supermarket is set to open next month in Cantú, north of Milan, next month, however, the store is likely to face competition, with 14 other supermarkets already operating in the city, according to La Provincia.

The store, located on Via Milano, will be one of the German discounter’s first to open in Italy.

Aldi Immobiliare, the retailer’s property arm, owns the land on which the new store will be developed, with construction work commencing on 14 August and is expected to finish by the end of September. A new roundabout is also being constructed to facilitate access to the store.

The new development is located just a few hundred metres away from a Eurospin retail outlet and an In's Mercato Discount discount store. In addition, the store is located beside a Tigotà personal hygiene and beauty outlet.
