Arla Foods has announced plans to expand its organic dairy plant in Germany. The company will grow capacity of the site in Upahl, in the north of the country.
The plant currently produces standard and organic dairy products. The site processes 80 million litres of organic milk of the overall total of 600 million litres at present.
Arla says that it wants to produce more organic products at the site in order to grow its organic market share in the country. It launched its organic products last winter, with the range proving to be a success, having already grown from six to 12 products.
The investment at Upahl will be partly funded by the state government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The work is expected to be completed in 2017.
