Carrefour Group Donates 40 Tonnes Of Food To Help Lebanon

Carrefour Group has announced that it has donated 40 tonnes of food to help Lebanon after an explosion in its main grain silo in Beirut left the nation with less than a month's reserves.

The French retailer has shipped non-perishable food items including, among others, flour, pasta, rice and tinned products to Lebanon.

The ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs in France supported the retailer's initiative, while the ministry of the armed forces provided an aircraft for the cargo.

The aid will be received by Majid Al Futtaim, the retailer’s long-standing partner in the region, which will then distribute it via local NGOs, Carrefour added.

The Majid Al Futtaim group operates five Carrefour and Carrefour Market stores in Lebanon.
