Danone has reported high first-quarter sales, which were helped by demand for baby food and bottled water. Full-year like-for-like sales is still expected to grow by 5-7 per cent, said the group, with underlying operating margin remaining stable.
Group revenue rose by 7.6 per cent to €5.12 billion; like-for-like sales grew by 6.9 per cent. Sales of baby food products rose by 9 per cent. Sales of Danone’s bottled water brands rose 16 per cent. Sales of yoghurt products rose by 3.8 per cent. Danone’s revenue from medical nutrition increased by 6.4 per cent. Danone said it expects consumer spending to remain under pressure in western Europe this year. (17 Apr)
