Dr. Oetker has announced that it has completed the acquisition of the French baked goods and desserts brand Alsa from the Unilever Group.

As well as the brands Alsa and Moench, the acquisition also includes an Alsa production site in Ludres, in the Lorraine region.

The transaction was closed after consultation with all relevant employee representatives and approval by the competition authorities.

A Perfect Fit

Commenting on the acquisition, managing director of Dr. Oetker France, Didier Muller, said, "This acquisition fits in with the company's growth strategy and the products complement Dr.  Oetker France very well."

The acquisition will drive the future growth of this traditional French brand, Dr. Oetker said in its statement.

Alsa produces baked goods and desserts for sales in France and other European countries, as well as North Africa.
