Ireland's Competition Authority has launched an investigation into the proposed takeover of KP Snacks by German company Intersnack.
The body is carrying out an investigation into the deal amid concerns that it might affect competition in Ireland. Intersnack has a controlling interest in Largo Foods, the leading manufacturer of premium snack foods in Ireland which supplies private label products to the UK, Australia, Asia and the Middle East.
The Authority has been assessing the deal since last December when the acquisition was announced. (5 March)
