Konzum Expands in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Since the start of the year, Konzum has implemented an investment project to improve its retail network across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Croatian supermarket chain, which operates more than 160 stores across Bosnia and Herzegovina, has completed the conversion of over 20 stores, it said, with 20 more stores to follow over the next two months, reports Indikator.

The retailer is aiming to refresh and renovate the stores, reset the assortment and adapt them to shopper needs.

Store Improvements

According to the director of the Consumer Retail Department, Stipan Škoro, significant improvements have been made in stores in Tomislavgrad, Stoc, Novi Grad as well as in several smaller outlets in Sarajevo.

The project was approved by the group's new management board last September and, since then and the measures introduced have resulted in strengthening the profitability of the company, he said.

As well as store restructuring, says Škoro, the company is also planning to open new outlets and is actively seeking new attractive locations.

Konzum said that it is in the final stage for the opening of five new stores, commencing this month.

Local Producers

Konzum has also expanded its cooperation with a number of local producers, which has resulted in the addition of over 250 new products, such as milk, bakery, meat and basic food products.

The retailer is also cooperating with manufacturers from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the development and marketing of new products. For example, it is working on expanding the milk products range of the Mila brand, manufactured by MI 99 Gradačac, as well as developing new products in the non-food segment in cooperation with Violeta.

Lastly, Konzum has also permanently reduced the price of more than 1,000 food and non-products. All promotional products carry the label “Dobre cijene svaki dan“ (Good prices every day).
