Musgrave Group Names New Chief Executive

Ireland's Musgrave Group has announced the appointment of Noel Keeley as its new chief executive, effective 1 January 2020.

Keeley, who currently hold the position of managing director of Musgrave Wholesale Partners, the group's wholesale division, will take over from Chris Martin, who announced his departure from the business earlier this year.

In a statement, Musgrave said that Keeley has 'transformed' the group's Musgrave MarketPlace format, as well as leading the growth of SuperValu and Centra in Northern Ireland, which also forms part of the Musgrave Wholesale Partners operation.

Keeley joined Musgrave in 2005, and held the position of group HR director prior to taking on his current role in 2010.

'Vast Experience'

“We are delighted that Noel has accepted the position as Musgrave CEO," commented Musgrave Group chairman Nicky Hartery. "He will bring his vast experience to bear as we build on our Growing Good Business strategy. Under Noel’s leadership our wholesale and food service business has become the market leader across the island of Ireland and he has driven the growth of SuperValu and Centra in Northern Ireland."

Hartery also paid tribute to Martin's 15-year tenure as chief executive of the business, saying that he "firmly established Musgrave as Ireland’s leading food retail, wholesale and foodservice company".
