Nespresso To Invest CHF43m In Switzerland’s Romont Factory
Nestlé’s Nespresso has announced that it will invest CHF43 million (€37.9 million) in its factory in Romont in Switzerland, adding two new production lines that will meet the growing demand for its versatile coffee system - Vertuo.
In the next two years, these new production lines are expected to create around 33 jobs.
Chief executive of Nespresso, Jean-Marc Duvoisin, said, “We are proud to continue to invest in our factory in Romont to support our Vertuo business, a strong contributor to our future growth.
"It is currently available in 14 countries and we continue to expand to new markets each year.”
Nespresso's Romont factory is the primary production site for Vertuo – an innovative portioned coffee system available in a variety of sizes, ranging between 40 millilitres to 414 millilitres.
The coffee giant has also inaugurated a state-of-the-art innovation centre comprising a product development centre, and a coffee campus.
The product development centre will focus on developing new Nespresso machines and Grand Cru coffees. The coffee campus will function as a training centre that will work closely with the company’s employees and external stakeholders.
Nespresso's executive vice-president and head of strategic business units, Patrice Bula, said, “The inauguration of the state-of-the-art innovation centre and continued expansion of our production capacity demonstrate our confidence in the future and a growing bond between Nespresso, Romont and the Fribourg region.”
