Nestlé Health Science Inaugurates New Global R&D Centre In New Jersey

Nestlé Health Science has inaugurated a new global research and development hub - Nestlé Product Technology Centre - in Bridgewater in New Jersey.

The $70 million centre will drive Nestlé Health Science’s mission to develop products that are more nutritious and healthy.

The new centre will also play an important role in advancing the company’s efforts to reduce packaging and produce lighter weight products.

Sustainability And Nutrition

“We approach sustainability as the right way to do business,” commented Greg Behar, CEO of Nestlé Health Science.

“Our science-driven nutrition portfolio continues to evolve towards cleaner recipes based on more sustainably sourced ingredients, while improving our environmental footprint including packaging.”

The Bridgewater centre was rendered fully operational in August of this year with the completion of its pilot plant.

Research And Development Lifecycle

The facility employs around 170 people, and is equipped with advanced facilities across the entire research and development lifecycle, beginning with ideation and rapid prototyping to sensory science, production and commercialisation.

It recently modified Boost Kid Essentials, a complete nutrition product for children, to cut down sugar content, remove artificial colours, and simplify the ingredients.

It was also instrumental in launching a line of high-nutrition tube-feeding formulas that are organic and non-GMO.
