Nestlé Introduces Raw Vegan Sausage In Germany

Nestlé has announced plans to roll out Garden Gourmet's Incredible Bratwurst in stores across Germany this month.

The product, presented at the International Green Week in Berlin in January, serves as an alternative to raw sausages made from beef and pork.

Unlike conventional plant-based sausages, the Incredible Bratwurst is raw and not pre-cooked, Nestlé added.

It is made from plant-based ingredients such as soy, beetroot and carrots and can be prepared on a grill rack or a pan.

'A Wider Selection Of Veggie Meat'

Heike Miéville-Müller, business unit manager marketing at Garden Gourmet, commented, “After the success with the Garden Gourmet Incredible Burger and Incredible Hack, we would like to offer flexitarians an even wider selection of veggie meat.

“Around 60% of German consumers want to reduce their meat consumption for environmental and health reasons, even though they value the consistency and taste experience of meat. Vegetable meat alternatives offer a solution without sacrificing the meat experience.”

In terms of nutrition, the Incredible Bratwurst has scored a ‘B’ in the Nutri-Score scale, Nestlé stated.

The product is also more environmentally friendly compared to pork sausages as soy sausages cut water consumption by 90%, require 80% less land use and emit 90% less CO2.
