Nestlé Invest In Russian Distribution Facilities

Nestlé is to invest more than CHF29 million in new Russian distribution facilities to meet growing demand for its products in the region.

The company will extend its distribution centre at the Vorsino manufacturing site, which is in the Kaluga region, with the new facilities expected to be fully operational by October 2013. The investment, which has been initiated to improve the company's distribution across Russia and other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will create around 100 jobs.

Nestlé made the announcement at a ceremony to mark the official opening of a CHF40 million extension to its Purina PetCare factory at the Vorsino production site last week.

Commenting on the investment, Maurizio Patamello, chief executive officer of Nestlé in Russia said, "We are taking an important step to strengthen our supply chain in Russia. The distribution centre will deliver a wide range of pet food products from Nestlé Purina and all dry grocery items sold by Nestlé in Russia, including Nescafé coffee, Maggi culinary products, Nestlé infant nutrition and Bistroff cereals."

He continued,“We believe in Russia’s long-term potential, which is why we continue to invest in the development of local facilities."
