Nestlé's Poland Spring To Switch To 100% Recycled Plastic Bottles

Nestlé has announced that its Poland Spring water brand will switch to bottles made of 100% recycled plastic (rPET) by 2022.

In June, the company will commence the transition of Poland Spring’s 1-litre bottles to 100% rPET.

Fernando Mercé, president and chief executive of Nestlé Waters North America, said, "Bottles like these, which are made from 100% recycled plastic and are 100% recyclable, are proof that a fully circular economy is within our reach."

Recycling Rates

As recycling rates in the United States hover around 30%, Poland Spring has collaborated with organisations like Closed Loop to promote the process.

It has extended its 'How2Recycle' labels across all types of packaging to ensure that consumers empty the bottle, replace the cap, and recycle after consuming the product.

In December of 2018, Poland Spring’s parent company, Nestlé Waters North America, announced that it aims to incorporate 25% recycled plastic in beverage bottles across its US domestic portfolio by 2021.

In April of this year, the company launched a premium range Poland Spring ORIGIN in 900-millilitre bottles which also uses 100% recycled plastic.
