Spanish Consumption Of Chocolate Sweets Grew By 11% In 2016

Spanish consumers' passion for chocolate has driven up profits for the chocolate sweets market, financialfood.es reported.

The sector, worth €184 million, has posted a growth of 11% so far in 2016.

Nestlé's 'Chocolate Barometer' found that 60% of Spanish households bought chocolate sweets in the previous year, the highest figure in the last four years.

A typical Spaniard eats one to three chocolate sweets in one sitting, primarily at home and with their family, Nestlé reported. The northeast of Spain accounts for 20% of consumption, followed by the south.
