UK’s Groceries Code Adjudicator Urges Suppliers To Complete His Latest Survey

  • Groceries producers throughout Europe who supply the UK’s largest supermarkets have an opportunity to tell an independent regulator in confidence how they are being treated by their retailers, across a range of supply chain practices.

Both UK-based and international suppliers are covered by the UK’s Groceries Supply Code of Practice, which obliges the 13 largest supermarkets to treat them fairly and lawfully.

It is monitored and enforced by the Groceries Code Adjudicator (GCA).

Recently appointed GCA, Mark White, is now seeking information about how retailers are behaving in these challenging times.

He has urged suppliers to complete the GCA’s latest survey to help set the framework for his activity in the year ahead.

White said, “This survey will be immensely valuable in helping me identify the issues the groceries sector is facing as well as guiding my future work. I am asking suppliers to be as frank as possible, because their answers can help their businesses. This year, I also want examples of retailers doing a good job to highlight success and share good practice.

“The survey is carried out on my behalf by the independent polling company YouGov, and suppliers can trust their answers will be treated in total confidence.”

The survey closes on 21 February and the GCA will publish the results later in the spring/summer, on its website.
