Unilever Appoints Paranjpe As Chief Operating Officer

Consumer goods giant Unilever has appointed Nitin Paranjpe as its new chief operating officer, effective 1 May.

He will be responsible for all of Unilever’s go-to-market organisations, and driving and co-ordinating in-year performance across all countries in line with the company’s divisional strategies.

Commenting on the appointment, CEO, Alan Jope, said, "With his deep knowledge and experience of our markets, Nitin is ideally placed to work with me and the Unilever Leadership Executive to drive our performance and help deliver our growth ambitions."

Other Leadership Changes

Chief digital officer and executive vice-president of South East Asia and Australasia (SEAA), Peter ter Kulve, has been appointed the president of its home-care division.

He will replace Kees Kruythoff, who has decided to leave the organisation after 27 years of service to pursue other opportunities.

The executive vice-president of South Asia, Sanjiv Mehta, has been promoted as the president of Unilever South Asia, and will join the Unilever Leadership Executive.

He will bring more expertise to the executive team on emerging markets, the company said.

Hanneke Faber, the current president of Unilever Europe, will step into Paranjpe’s previous role as the president of the foods and refreshment division.

'Strong Performance'

“I am delighted that Hanneke will assume Nitin’s leadership of our foods and refreshment division after her strong performance in Europe, and that Peter and Sanjiv, both of whom have long track records of success across a diverse range of senior management roles in the company, will join the Unilever Leadership Executive,” Jope added.

The positions of the President Europe and EVP SEAA will not be replaced and the country organisations in these regions will report to the COO, the company said.
