Contrary to the official company line, Unilever is reportedly seeking bidders for its Ragu Pasta sauce company.
Unilever is currently the world's second largest consumer products maker, and has according to various media outlets, hired Morgan Stanley to sell the unit.
Ragu is reportedly estimated to sell for as much as $2 billion.
Sources with close knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg that Unilever has reached out to a number of potential buyers for Ragu, including Kraft Foods, Berkshire Hathaway's HJ Heinz and Pinnacle Foods.
Under CEO Paul Polman, Unilever has been moving to reduce its number of food brands. Last year, Unilever sold its Wish-Bone salad dressing business to Pinnacle Foods for $580 million.
Just last week, Unilever confirmed that it had sold their meat snacks business Peperami to US firm Jack Links for an undisclosed sum.
