Vomar Sees Revenue Up, Adds To Management Team

Dutch discounter Vomar Voordeelmarkt has posted 11% revenue growth in the year to date, in what has been an "exceptionally successful year" for the business, according to its chief executive, Aart van Haren.

The business has "invested heavily" in facilitating future growth over the past year, he added, including opening a new distribution centre for fresh items in Alkmaar, as well as unveiling four new stores this past autumn.

"At the start of 2020 we will double the production capacity of our central bakery in Alkmaar and we also have the ambition to greatly expand our current branch base in the coming years," he added.

New Appointment

The group has announced the appointment of Art Lanting as its new acquisition manager, effective 6 January 2020.

Lanting, 50, commenced his career at Laurus before joining Albert Heijn, where in 2006, as expansion manager, he was responsible for acquiring new locations as well as redeveloping existing ones.

According to Vomar, he will lead the acquisition and development activities at Vomar, which currently holds 69 branches and employs 7,000 people.
