AB InBev Names Brazil Marketing Head As New UK President

Brewer AB InBev has named Paula Lindenberg, the current vice president of marketing at its Brazilian arm, Ambev, as its new UK & Ireland president.

According to The Grocer, Lindenberg will assume the role in January, when the current UK & Northern Europe head Jason Warner is named zone president for Europe.

Lindenberg has been with AB InBev for 17 years, and in her current role, was responsible for the marketing strategy for brands including Skol, Brahma and Antarctica, based in Ambev's São Paolo offices.

The Grocer quoted Warner as saying that he cannot think of a "better person to lead the UK onto the next level", noting that Lindenberg has “contributed hugely to our Latin American business, leading its growth strategy, expanding its premium beers and reconnecting the business with its brewing heritage. I have no doubt that she will bring her own brand of creative vision and energy to these shores".

Management Changes

Warner will replace Stuart McFarlane as zone president for Europe at AB InBev, who is leaving to 'pursue other interests', the brewer said in a statement last month.

'Stuart started with us in 1992 and leaves a tremendous legacy,' it said. 'He demonstrated relentless commitment to our people in growing our talent pipeline and to our business, by driving strong results for Europe. We thank Stuart for his many contributions to our company’s success and wish him the best for his future'.

Other changes announced recently included the appointment of two new senior positions within the company, including Lucas Herscovici, currently global marketing VP of strategic functions, becoming chief non-alcohol beverages officer, and Pablo Panizza, currently BU president for BU Rio de la Plata, being named chief owned-retail officer.

New Zone Presidents were also appointed in South America, Middle Americas, Africa and APAC, all effective 1 January.

'We will use the coming months to guarantee a smooth transition into the new structure and ensure continuity for the future,' AB InBev said.

'We continue to be focused on delivering top-line growth, creating new occasions and expanding the beer category. We believe that by implementing these changes, we will be better equipped to accelerate growth and be more responsive to our consumers and customers to bring them an even better experience'.
