Drinks Giant AB InBev Announces Sustainability Accelerator Project

Drinks giant AB InBev has announced details of the '100+ Sustainability Accelerator' project, through which the firm will be sourcing startups that can assist with its sustainability goals.

The Budweiser parent says that the programme will see AB InBev 'support, mentor and fund successful applicants so they can incubate, experiment, refine and ultimately amplify their solutions at scale'.

“We know we cannot accomplish our comprehensive sustainability goals alone", commented Tony Milikin, AB InBev’s chief sustainability and procurement officer.

Main Focus Areas

AB InBev has identified ten key challenges relating to sustainability that it wants to address, including areas such as water stewardship, farmer productivity, product upcycling, responsible sourcing and green logistics.

Would-be applicants can apply to the scheme before 14 September. Winners will be announced in September and invited to be part of the 100+ Accelerator, which will kick-off in New York in October and run through to March 2019.

Start-ups will also have the opportunity to pitch for funding from investors during a demonstration day at the AB InBev headquarters in Leuven, Belgium.

“Today’s global sustainability challenges provide us with some of the greatest opportunities for development and innovation," said Maisie Devine, global director of AB InBev’s 100+ Accelerator.

"The 100+ Accelerator will draw on our company’s entrepreneurial spirit and our constant drive to deliver faster, better results."
