Albert Heijn Rolls Out New Delivery App

Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has launched a new delivery app, Rappie, which will extend the company’s existing delivery service.

Rappie, which is currently being trialled in Rotterdam, allows customers to order goods online for immediate delivery from the Superbuddy courier service.

Customers can order a selection of groceries with one click via the new app, then a Superbuddy delivery person collects the goods in the supermarket and delivers them by bike to wherever the customer specifies.

“Time is an important factor for many of our customers, and we try to offer convenience and flexibility,” said Saskia Egas Reparaz, director of marketing at Albert Heijn.

“With the Rappie app, customers can continue with their daily activities, while, together with Superbuddy, we deliver in no time to wherever they want.”

Online Innovations

Albert Heijn has already partnered with Superbuddy to provide two-hour delivery in the cities of Zwolle and Utrecht, but the two companies say that the launch of this new app will expand and improve this partnership.

“We notice that there is already a lot of interest in the Rappie service,” said Laurens van Geffen, CEO of Superbuddy.

“With the new app, growth will only accelerate because ordering is even easier. This is an important step for customers.”

Elsewhere, the retailer has introduced personalised grocery lists to its online shopping portal, AH.nl, to make the service quicker and more convenient for customers, and launched Hiku, a ‘smart’ fridge magnet, used to make digital shopping lists.
