Aldi Five-Dollar Rosé Wins Sidney Wine Award

An Aldi private label wine that retails at A$5 has defeated wines which cost up to three times its price, to win a Blue Gold Medal at the Sydney International Wine Competition, dailymail.co.uk reports.

Aldi’s 2015 South Point Rosé was among six prize-winners in the rosé section, it claiming the award for the best of this kind under A$15.

Buying director for Aldi wines, Jason Bowyer, commented on Aldi’s award-winning Victoria-made product, “We pride ourselves on sourcing products of the highest quality, and these award wins are testament to the excellent calibre of the Australian suppliers we work with.

“The quality and value equation is the most important variable at Aldi. It enables us to deliver to high standards that are in line with our customers' tastes, by benchmarking product specifications against market leading wine brands.

“A $10 wine at Aldi should drink like a $20 to $25 wine from elsewhere, and we consistently deliver on this formula.”
