Aldi Opens First Three Stores In Northern Portugal
German supermarket chain Aldi has begun its expansion into Northern Portugal, with the opening of its first three stores in the region.
The discounter will now end the year with a total of 57 stores throughout the country, with plans to open “a considerable number of new stores in 2018,” a company representative told Dinheiro Vivo.
The retail group has been operating in Portugal since 2006, and currently employs over 1100 people in the country.
Aldi Portugal is also planning to increase its range of fresh and healthy products to meet growing consumer demand.
The company claims that it differs from other retailers in Portugal through its commitment to provide maximum quality at a minimum price.
It adds that almost all of the products sold in these stores are private label brands, produced exclusively for the Aldi Nord banner.
