Aldi UK has launched a range British Aberdeen Angus beef, claiming it matches the quality of Aberdeen Angus beef stocked in Waitrose and M&S, while 30 per cent cheaper.
The range includes a 14-day matured six-ounce fillet steak (£4.99), a 21-day matured eight-ounce rib eye steak (£3.99), a 21-day matured eight- ounce sirloin steak (£3.99) and Aberdeen Angus mince (£3.59, per 500g).
Anthony Baines, managing director for buying at Aldi UK, said, “Our new Specially Selected Aberdeen Angus Certified beef range gives shoppers the very best quality beef at an everyday low price.” Ron McHattie, chief executive of the Aberdeen Angus Society said they were delighted to be working with Aldi, “We believe it is important to make good quality, ethically-reared meat affordable for everyone."
