Aldi UK To Offer Eight Organic Wines

Aldi UK will begin retailing eight organic wines as part of a seasonal portfolio on 4 April, TheDrinksBusiness.com has reported.

The German retailer believes this rollout, which includes private-label wine, will appeal to the ‘whole foods’ generation, which is marked by a preoccupation with healthy, organic and environmentally-conscious produce.

Among the newly added bottled are its best-selling Toro Loco Superiore (2015), with an organic cépage of Bobal (70%), Tempranillo (25%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).

Also on the list are two CO2-neutral bottles from 80 Acres (Australia), two sulphur-free bottles from South Africa, two organic wines from Languedoc producer Jean-Claude Mas, and an additional Prosecco SKU.

The UK’s Soil Association’s 2017 Organic Report shows that the market for organically produced beers, wines and spirits grew by 14.3% last year, with a 40% increase over the four weeks to Christmas.
