Argentinian Wines Take 65 Medals In Paris And New York

Argentinian wines won a combined total of more than 65 awards at two of the world’s biggest wine competitions in March; Vinalies in Paris, and Finger Lakes IWC in New York.

According to DiarioUno.com.ar, Argentinian wines won one gold medal and 15 silver medals at Vinalies, the country’s best performance at the awards to date.

The winner of the gold medal was Trapiche Iscay Syrah, Viognier 2012, produced by Bodegas Trapiche. The silver medals were awarded to a wide range of wines from around the country, with Malbecs performing especially well. A full list of the winners can be found here.

In New York, Argentinian producers won a total of 52 awards, which included six double gold medals, seven gold, 28 silver and 12 bronze.

The double gold medal award winners were Rutini Malbec 2014 from La Rural Videos Y Bodegas S.A., Santa Julia Reserva Malbec, 2015 Alambrado Malbec Tempranillo 2015 and Alambrado Gran Selección Malbec 2014, all from Bodega Santa Julia; and Broquel Malbec 2014 de Trapiche and Luna Roja Syrah 2014 by winery Ricardo Nicolás Gabardós.
