Walmart-owned grocer Asda has launched a card with the price tag of just 7p. The card featured the supermarket’s ‘Smart Price’ logo and contains the message “My love for you is priceless”.
The cards have become a hit with cash-strapped consumers. Internet forums are buzzing with the news of the 7p cards. “Looking to break up with your partner but not sure how? Give them a 7p card from Asda!”, wrote one user. “Thanks for making me laugh so much. Think it should come with a warning on the packet – Guaranteed to get you a quickie divorce! Would definitely send one of these to someone I didn’t like!,” said another.
“We noticed there was a gap in the market for people who don’t take Valentine’s Day too seriously, but still want to make a gesture,” said Laura Ryall, seasonal card buyer at Asda. (6 Feb)
