Significant Boost Expected In Spain's Cereal Harvest

Estimates from the Spanish National Association of Commerce of Cereals and Oleaginous (Accoe) anticipate a “considerable increase” of production and average yield in Spain's winter harvest of cereals, of around 3,710 kilos per hectare, compared to the 2,530 kilos per hectare last season.

As reported on efeagro.com, soft wheat is expected to reach 7,262,837 tonnes (33.87 per cent more than last year), hard wheat may reach 1,081,953 tonnes (+19.44 per cent), barley forecasts are at around 10,306,533 tonnes (+61.11 per cent), oats will be around 1,151,234 tonnes (+48.14 per cent) and triticale will rise to 737,063 tonnes (+69.96 per cent).

All regions are expected to show growth in soft wheat except Murcia (-46.3 per cent), Andalucía (-9 per cent) and Galicia (-29 per cent).

Hard wheat production will see growth in Andalucía (+0.95 per cent), Extremadura (+55.45 per cent), Aragón (+82.54 per cent) and Castilla-La Mancha (+89.74 per cent).
