Cocoa and chocolate producer Barry Callebaut has completed its acquisition of Italian confectionery company D’Orsogna Dolciaria.

The family-owned Italian business supplies decoration and inclusion solutions for food manufacturers, in particular for ice-cream, dairy and bakery products.

The sales volume of D’Orsogna Dolciaria in 2016 was around 12,000 tonnes, with sales revenues of around €52 million.

Based in San Vito Chietino, the company operates three production sites in Italy, India and Canada, employing around 300 people.

Strategic Acquisition

The acquisition is part of Barry Callebaut’s strategic efforts, and will expand its existing offering with amaretti, meringues, cookies, glazings, toppings, and other products for ice cream, yogurts, snacks and chocolate decorations.
